The PGA Tour starts its Asian swing this week, with TPC Kaula Lumpur hosting the CIMB Classic.
Justin Thomas is going for three in a row, and must be respected after his exploits in the Ryder Cup. However, he’s we’re not sure the 5/1 on offer represents value given injury doubts.
We’re going to side instead with Ryan Moore. This American warmed up for this event by finishing tied second in the Safeway Open last weekend, losing in a three man playoff. He has an excellent record around this course, having won twice before, and we think that a price three times that of JT offers value.
Our second selection is another American, Gary Woodland. This course is one of the shortest on Tour, measuring just over 7,000 yards with four par fives. It is set up for a big hitter to dominate, so long as he hits the short stuff off the tee. And there are very few with Woodland’s power.
Moore to win, 1 pt, at 16/1, SkyBet
Woodland to win, 1 pt, at 22/1, widely available
