The European Tour heads to Turkey this week, with the Regnum Carya Golf & Spa resort hosting the Turkish Airlines Open.
Thursday’s defending champion is Justin Rose, but in the five year history of the event no one has successfully defended their title.
This event is one of the prestigious Rolex Series tournaments on the European Tour, but the entry list is a little disappointing. Outside of Rose, only Tommy Fleetwood, Kiradech Aphibarnrat, Thorbjorn Olesen and Haotong Ali are in the world top 50.
Rose has a favourite’s chance, but may be running on fumes at this point having competed strongly in Asia last week. Fleetwood something similar.
Olesen ticks a lot of boxes, having won around this course two years ago. We tipped him at the British Masters a couple of weeks ago, but this was too soon after the Ryder Cup and he never got going. We’ll try again.
Our second selection is Padraig Harrington. We landed some each way cash on the Irishman and are confident of doing so again. He finished fourth here last year, clearly likes the course, and is in good form having posted three top ten finishes in his last six starts.
Olesen to win, 1 pt, at 12/1, widely available
Harrington 0.5 pts each way at 50/1, 1/4 the odds for the first five places, SkyBet
