Yesterday’s winning nap, Erick Le Rouge (6/1), arrived for us like John Mills’ lager at the end of Ice Cold In Alex. Same again please barman….
The Daily Yankee:
NAP OF THE DAY: Katabatika, (2015 Kempton), 1pt win, 8/1 generally available
This filly has just one career win but that was crucially over this course and distance where her form figures are 315. She is just 2lbs higher here, but was a strong second at Chelmsford recently before a third back on turf. Whilst she has everything in her favour, her main opponents all have question marks about this trip or this surface. Could be good value.
Pavers Pride, (1440 Nottingham), 7/1: This gelding has a fondness for a quick 5f having won at Thirsk and Musselburgh. Looked to be going nowhere this season but has blossomed in the blinkers. Could be very well drawn near the stand rail and may have one more in him having crept up slowly for recent wins.
Tarte Tropezienne, (1510 Nottingham), 2/1: Another Ian Williams stayer worth backing. This filly has gone frustratingly close all year but ran her best here last time when touched off after a troubled run. James Doyle is a superb booking and she can get a deserved win.
Divin Bere, (1915 Kempton), 9/4: best known as a quality hurdler but stepped back to the flat off a basement mark of 60 last time for a cosy win in a big field at Bath. A mark of 66 still leaves loads of room for improvement and Megan Nicholls continues to claim another 5lbs off. The only question mark is the surface, but Kempton is one of the easier surfaces to handle and he should win again.
