Thursday Yankee: Ours is a Bud…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY: Budarri, (1320 Sedgefield), 1pt win, 9/2 generally available

We’re big lovers of Sedgefield, a nice course to visit (pack the thermals), and a good place to bet.  We’ll start with Budarri who has twice run well here and finished his early Summer campaign with two good seconds.  He returned after 3 months at Carlisle as a 33/1 shot and there was a lot to like about his 7th of 18.  With that under his girth strap he should go better here.

Black Art, (1350 Sedgefield), 5/2:  we napped him for a course win over hurdles earlier his year.  Whatever he did in that discipline, he always looked a chaser in the making.  Off his hurdles mark here he can make a first step to showing that improvement.  Tactically versatile he may well make all.

Comanche Chieftan, (1445 Stratford), 9/2:   loves it here with 4 wins in 5.  The track suits his free wheeeling style and he can jump them into submission.  Favourite Cobra De Mai by contrast was pulled up in his previous course run, he steps back after a clumsy jumping display at Chepstow, and our pick will be laying it down to him from an early stage.

More Than Luck, (1530 Sedgefield), 5/2:   This must be one of the longest hurdle races on the calendar.  That should fit dour slogger More Than Luck who rarely looked like winning at Fontwell on his last hurdles run until forging ahead late on for an ever widening 10l success.  Would love to back in running after 2 miles as he probably won’t be looking good, but it’s the last mile that will count.
