Champions League: Virgil van Strike…

The Champions League returns after a short break, with Liverpool traveling to Serbia to take on Red Star Belgrade.

The Reds won the first clash at Anfield easily, 4-0, and are expected to make it a double tonight.

However, there are reasons to believe it will not be as easy this time around. Red Star welcome back key midfielder Marko Marin after injury, they will have a passionate home support and Liverpool are suffering a few injuries of their own.

That said, Red Star have conceded the most goals, and faced the most shots both on and off target in the competition. Surely they will concede again. They have also conceded 25 corners in their three Champions League games, and we look for Liverpool star defender Virgil van Dijk to get his head on one of these.

The second game sees Tottenham host PSV Eindhoven. The first game between these two somehow ended in a draw, with PSV equalising late in the game after being outplayed for long periods.

We don’t think Spurs will let them off twice, and look for a comprehensive home win.

One of Tottenham’s most impressive players over the last year has been Kerian Trippier. The attacking fullback also takes a number of free kicks with his wand of a right foot. He’s 10/1 to score at anytime, and we’ll also take an outside punt that he scores a couple.

Recommendations:

Red Star/Liverpool: Van Dijk to score a header, 1 pt, at 20/1, Paddy Power

Spurs/PSV: Trippier to score at anytime,  0.5 of a point, Unibet and to score twice, 0.5 of a point, at 75/1, Paddy Power
