Premier League: Murray looks mint…

The Premier League weekend starts with a game designed to ensure all the tired workers of the week have something to fall asleep in front of.

Cardiff against Brighton doesn’t exactly get the blood flowing, but maybe a punt on the game will help.

Cardiff have struggled since their promotion to the top flight, netting just five points and one win in their opening 11 games. Brighton have fared much better, but still have only one away win to date. This tends to suggest a tight game, with a goalless draw a possibility.

That said, while we do think goals will be at a premium, Brighton have benefitted tremendously from the form of their striker Glenn Murray. He has scored six league goals this season, a record bettered by very few. Cardiff tend to give a chance, and we’ll take Murray to open the scoring.

The evening game sees Crystal Palace host Tottenham at Selhurst Park.

The visitors arrive fresh from a morale-boosting win the Champions League midweek and have an excellent record against today’s hosts. Spurs are on a six match winning run against the Eagles in the Premier League, conceding just one goal in the process.

We expect Spurs to continue this run, and we’re going to focus on key striker Harry Kane. Tottenham’s talisman netted twice in Europe midweek and we’ll take a punt this form continues with another brace today.

Recommendations:

Cardiff/Brighton: Murray to be first goalscorer, 1 pt, at 5/1, bet365

Crystal Palace/Spurs: Kane to score a brace, 1 pt, at 4/1, William Hill
