Monday Yankee: Brewing up a winner?

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:  Something Brewing, (1815 Wolverhampton), 1pt win, 11/2 generally available

The market here is shaped by hot favourite Lumen. He does look well treated after his handicap debut win, but he didn’t look straightforward there, and just looks too short a price.  That helps make the market for Something Brewing, a good winner on his only previous run here and a much better horse on these false surfaces.  He looks too big a price.

Golden Cannon, (1500 Plumpton), 3/1:  streaked home here last time when a big outsider.  She is 10lbs higher which should logically stop her, but mares in form are capable of significant improvement, and this race barely demands any as it looks particularly weak.

Boscastle, (1715 Wolverhampton), 3/1:  plenty of unexposed types in this event, but many of those may simply not have had a chance to show how bad they are. Boscastle is definitely more exposed, but she has been knocking on the door and gets Oliver Stammers’ useful 7lb claim. A run like last time should do the trick.

Maybe Today, (1745 Wolverhampton), 10/3:  another race with a terribly short favourite, this time useful hurdler Redicean.  It is worth taking him on with relatively lightly raced filly Maybe Today.  She has shown plenty of promise and even here we’ll beaten second at Southwell reads well given the winner’s exploits.  This track should suit a whole lot more and she can spring the surp.
