The European Tour is in South Africa this week, with the Randpark Golf Club in Johannesburg hosting the South African Open.
The betting is dominated by home talent but we’re going to side with an Englishman for our win bet. Matt Wallace has had an outstanding season, winning a number of times on the European Tour and coming very close to making the Ryder Cup team.
He looked a little tired after missing out on the Paris extravaganza, but has come back of late to play some really good stuff, finishing tied second in Dubai and tied fifth in the Nedbank Challenge also in South Africa. Wallace is currently world ranked in the low 40s and needs to stay in the top 50 to make his first Masters – the incentive is there.
Our second selection is Scott Vincent. The Zimbabwean is long off the tee and makes his fair share of birdies, something that will be needed this week. He finished fourth in this event last year and usually goes well in this part of the world.
Wallace to win, 1 pt, at 12/1, SkyBet
Vincent 0.5 pts each way, at 66/1, 1/5 the odds for the first eight places, Paddy Power
