The play-off pictures are starting to take shape, and with that the motivations of those chasing prizes.
One team chasing a prize is the San Francisco 49ers, in their case a race to the bottom against the Raiders to secure next year’s first draft pick. Expect them to roll over and play dead against a resurgent Denver Broncos, whose agile running back Phillip Lindsay looks sure to score.
The Los Angeles Chargers are continuing to chase down the Kansas City Chiefs in advance of a divisional decider between the two next Thursday. They should make short work of a disintegrating Cincinnati Bengals with all around danger man Keenan Allen highly likely to register.
The Washington Redskins arguably have more to play for with an outside play off chance than the visiting New York Giants. But broken legs in successive games for Redskin QBs leave them digging deep in the part of the playing roster that’s traditionally pretty shallow given wage caps. If they can’t move it then the Giants can expect both ball and field position and that looks a shoo-in for first season running back sensation Saquon Barkley.
Back them all to score, and for the more ambitious, them all to score first.
P. Lindsay (Broncos), K. Allen (Chargers) & S. Barkley (Giants)
All to score anytime TD, 1.5pt treble, approx 9/2
All to score first touchdown, 0.5pt treble, approx 150/1
