Tonight sees the start of the deciding games of the group phase of the Champions League, with a couple of games involving English sides to whet the appetite.
Liverpool take on Napoli at Anfield needing to win either 1-0 or by two goals to progress. The Reds have been disappointing away from home in this competition this season, but their home form has been impressive.
Fresh from a 4-0 over Bournemouth on Saturday, we think Liverpool will go for goals tonight. We note that James Milner played at fullback on Saturday, but think he will return to midfield and will take him to score, most likely from the penalty spot.
The second game sees Tottenham travel to Spain to take on Barcelona needing to win to go through to the knockout phase.
Ordinarily this would be seen as an extremely difficult task, and it still won’t be easy, but Barca look likely to rest key players, possibly including the mercurial Lionel Messi.
Tottenham know they have to win and have been playing well of late. One of their key players who looks like he’s returning to form after the summer’s World Cup is Dele Alli. A scorer last weekend, the English midfielder is quoted at just over 3/1 to score anytime, but we’ll take Paddy Power’s enhanced 22/1 that he scores with a header.
Liverpool/Napoli: Milner to score, 1 pt, at 5/1, Paddy Power
Barcelona/Tottenham: Alli to score a header, 1 pt, at 22/1, Paddy Power
