Saturday Yankee: Hot Streak ?

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:  Silver Streak, (1505 Cheltenham), 1pt win, 5/1 generally available

The poster horse for the blog as our first ever (and successful) selection.  Has looked in peak form this season and was a good second under a big weight here last time.  Will want to it to stay dry.  Has a few pounds to find but is on his way up where many of these are heading the other way.  Summerville Boy may be the long term quality here, but ran not just as though he needed the race at Newcastle, but that he might need this one too.

Theclockisticking, (1335 Doncaster), 13/2:  the outsider of four here for this quality novice chase.  That said he was the highest rated over hurdles and always looked like he’d be a better chaser.  A bloodless win in a 2 runner race on his only chase start means he is currently rated the same as hurdles whereas his more experienced opponents have risen between 5 and 16 pounds on their hurdle rating, there is no reason this guy can’t match that.

Rather Be, (1355 Cheltenham), 7/2:  has looked a quality performer on his last two runs here, a great runner up effort at the Festival, and a looming big show in November until unluckily brought down at the top of the hill.  Could arguably be overbacked off of that, but in truth this field looks below par for this event and the odds are probably pretty fair.

Irish Roe, (1410 Doncaster), 7/2:  winner of this race last year, this mare loves this course and enjoys this decent surface.  She is not the only course specialist here, but was running an eye catching effort in the rear of a big Cheltenham handicap last time, and may just be coming to the boil for this.
