Saturday Yankee: Easy Tiger…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:  Flying Tiger, (1535 Ascot) 1pt win, 16/1 generally available

A cracking handicap in which it is hard for us to desert either blog regular and last time winner Man Of Plenty and festival hero Mohaayed.  We’ll have an eye on both (and a penny or two) but both now look a little high in the weights.  With the ground against Fidux and possibly dark horse Fiesole, the one we like is 2017 festival winner Flying Tiger.  After 18 months he has finally slipped to a lower mark and gets a further 7lbs off from the useful Chester Williams.  The ground should suit and he looks a fair price.

Call Me Lord, (1425 Ascot), 4/1:  looked likely to head the market here but has taken a bit of a walk.  That may be the ground – he handles it but it will make this a bigger test of his unproven stamina.  We still think just worth risking – he was super impressive stepped up in trip at the end of last season, there is room at the top in this division, and Daryl Jacob has picked him over the very good Top Notch.

Clan Legend, (1440 Haydock), 8/1:  Another with stamina to prove.  Has won at 2m4f so should go deep into this race before he finds any problems.  Critically he goes well here, adores the mud, and has an excellent record when fresh.  He may have the race won before stamina becomes an issue.

Theo’s Charm, (1515 Haydock), 4/1:  has been knocking on the door here with course form of 23325.  That last effort can be excused as it was his seasonal debut and the ground was riding faster than ideal.  Has dropped to a very kind mark, and gets the assistance and big claim of the exotically named Rex Dingle.  It could be a case of Dingle Dingle all the way…
