Sunday Yankee: Run Rabbitte Run..

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:  Jimmy Rabbitte, (1535 Taunton), 1pt win, 3/1 generally available

We are big fans of trainer Dr Richard Newland, and in particular his ability to find improvement in new recruits.  Jimmy Rabbitte has instant appeal on debut for the yard today at Taunton.  Previously in Ireland he signed off with a surprise win in a Thurles maiden in November.  The second there has won since and is rated 122, whereas Jimmy, who won off level weights, runs here off just 103.  Looks good.

Back To The Thatch, (1400 Haydock), 4/1:  closely matched with rival Ami Desbois on their last run.  He has threatened to win a good staying chase and with champion Richard Johnson returningbto the plate he can provide the extra edge to come out on top here.

Volcano, (1430 Haydock), 9/4:  was considered good enough for a spin in the Champion bumper at last year’s Cheltenham Festival.  Not in that league, but looked well handicapped on his first foray out of maidens at Uttoxeter last time when edged out miles clear of the rest.  Still looks well in despite a 6lb rise and Sam Twiston Davies will be itching to settle the score here

Glance Back, (1525 Taunton), 2/1:  raised just 4lbs for a front running win at Bangor last time.  Not too exposed over fences and every reason to think he can follow up against a reasonably modest field on a track that can suit prominent runners.
