Premier League: Kane to start ball rolling…

The new year starts with a new round of fixtures in the Premier League. First up is a clash between Everton and Leicester at Goodison Park.

It’s difficult to work out these two teams. Everton conceded six against Spurs, then put five past Burnley before losing to Brighton, while Leicester followed fantastic wins over Chelsea and Manchester City with defeat by Cardiff.

We’re not going to side with either. Instead we noticed with interest the power from the left foot of Everton’s fullback Lucas Digne as he scored two in their Burnley romp.

Digne is best priced at 11/1 to score anytime during the game, but SkyBet offers 18/1 that he scores from outside the penalty area. We’ll be on that.

The late game sees Tottenham travel to Cardiff keen to put behind them the shock home defeat to Wolves last time out.

The hosts have started to show some form, collecting seven points from their last five games. That said, their record against the league’s elite is poor – they have lost their last 14 games against the ‘big six’, including conceding 22 in the six matches this season.

With all this in mind, we’re going to take Spurs to win, although the game could be tight. Tottenham striker Harry Kane has been the punisher of newly promoted sides, scoring 15 in his last 11 games against teams who have just come up. SkyBet offers 11/4 that he scores first, and we’ll be on that.

Everton/Leicester: Digne to score from outside the area, 1 pt, at 18/1, SkyBet

Cardiff/Tottenham: Kane to score first, 1 pt, at 11/4, SkyBet
