The NFL wild card weekend concludes tonight, with two more matches. Hopefully we can be as successful today as we were yesterday in picking the Colts and the Cowboys. (NFL: Cheer on Colts and Cowboys…)
We commented last weekend about our liking for strong defences at this time of the season, and we’ll continue this theme today.
Today’s first game sees the Baltimore Ravens host the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chargers have been very impressive away from home in the regular season, winning seven from eight, but they lost at home to this Ravens side two weeks ago.
And the basis behind the Ravens this season has been their number one ranked defence. We expect this to be the dominant influence today, but don’t expect the Ravens to pull away in what could be a tight game.
The late game sees the Chicago Bears host the defending Super Bowl champions Philadelphia Eagles.
The Eagles scraped into the playoffs on the back of three straight wins but will be underdogs against a Bears team which has won nine of its last 10 on the back of a dominating defence.
Again we expect the home side to prevail, with their strong defence limiting the Eagles, but we don’t expect a blowout.
Recommendations: Ravens and Bears both to win by 1-10 points as a double, 1 pt, at approximately 7/1, widely available
