NAP OF THE DAY: Ming Dynasty, (1450 Naas), 1pt win, 4/1 generally available
Very strong flat form yet to convert to hurdles, but handicap debut at Fairyhouse saw an excellent 2nd of 17, and the return to novice company at Limerick over Christmas saw another improved effort. Looks very well in here is able to build on that.
Dizoard, (1300 Newcastle), 8/1: a weak looking handicap in which Iain Jardine’s veteran mare Dizoard finds herself on the basement rating. That’s been earned by a succession of underachievement, but she recently stormed home over hurdles. That does not always mean much back on the flat, but when a mare strikes form she can often leave her form behind.
Tornado Flyer, (1450 Naas), 15/8: a grade 1 head to head between Ireland’s leading stables. Battleoverdoyen looks a cracking future chaser and is unbeaten, but for all his future looks golden, for the here and now he may just find the Mullins contender here just a bit too quick to handle. Tornado Flyer was an exceptional bumper horse and may have too many gears at this stage for his big rival.
The Two Amigos, (1440 Plumpton), 2/1: not the most competitive renewal of the Sussex National with few of these proven over extreme distances. The Two Amigos has earned top weight with the kind of progressive efforts his rivals here rarely produce. He can outclass this field.
