Tonight sees the first leg of the first semifinal of the Carabao Cup (English League Cup), with Tottenham hosting Chelsea at Wembley.
Both sides had wins over the weekend in the FA Cup, with Spurs being that bit more impressive, but it’s their last meeting in the league which attracts our attention. Tottenham won 3-1 at home, proving to be much the better side on the day.
Chelsea have been using Eden Hazard as a lone striker for large parts of the season, and the Belgian star is good enough to play that role. But we think this takes away some of his impact, and has made the Blues a little tedious of late.
First leg ties can be cagy affairs, but we think Spurs will want to take an advantage back to Stamford Bridge. Thus we will take Tottenham to win tonight although the game could be tight.
And to increase the odds we’re going to take Heung-Min Son to score in the win. The Korean scored against Chelsea in November and has netted 12 times in his last 13 starts for Spurs. He was substituted early on against Tranmere on Friday and thus is likely to start tonight.
Recommendation: Tottenham to win and Son to score, 1 pt, at 9/2, SkyBet
