NAP OF THE DAY: Paddy The Chef, (1510 Warwick), 1pt win, 9/4 generally available
Trainer Ian Williams throws this juvenile straight into handicaps to take advantage of the 11lbs weight for age allowance. Ran 11 times on the flat so doesn’t lack experience and doesn’t have a lot to beat here.
Muckle Roe, (1405 Warwick), 15/2: has course form here of 2131223, and the stable co tjnues in good form. Gets the assistance of top jockey and trainer’s son Sam, and a rating of 122 looks workable being only 3lbs above his last winning mark.
Captain Cargo, (1440 Warwick), 10/3: ran a good race here when second last time over course and distance. Has edged up 3lbs but he did have 15 rivals behind him there. Gets the power of Sean Bowen in the saddle which could make a difference in a gruelling event.
Shantou Flyer, (1545 Warwick), 1/1: owner-rider David Maxwell has exercised his wallet to accquire a string of quality horses to ride in search of the amateur riders title. In truth, he is a long way off being a top amateur, but his strategy can yield another win here with a horse who was second at the last Cheltenham festival and would be 16lbs superior to the rest here on ratings.
