Thursday Yankee: Get some Percy Mercy…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:  Presenting Percy, (1350 Gowran Park), 1pt win, 7/4 generally available

He’s back !!!  Blog darling and ante-post Gold Cup favourite Presenting Percy finally makes his seasonal reappearance having been kept on the sidelines by unseasonably fast ground.  He won this hurdles race last year, but arguably this is a stronger event, he comes off a long lay off, and his trainer rarely cares until it’s time for Cheltenham.   All that said, he is pure class and we are happy to back him every time he hits the track.

Invitation Only, (1500 Gowran Park), 5/1:  one of eight runners for the Mullins yard. We have concerns backing Ruby this season, but you have to believe he is in the evident first choice.  This horse was campaigned like a top class animal in all the spring festivals.  His return at Tramore was fair until tiring late on, and he could have too much class for these off his mark.

Gettysberg Address, (1510 Fakenham), 5/2:  has always looked a chaser but hibdwbut over fences was disappointing.  That may have been due to the long break since his previous run, and he subsequently ran a blinder to be worn down late on at Bangor.  His pace-setting tactics can work very well here and he can get the better of he heavily penalised Sideways.

Cottonvale, (1545 Fakenham), 5/2:  young trainers Christian Williams and Olly Murphy field 5 of these and Williams can prevail with the unlucky Cottonvale.  Would have won at Hereford two runs ago and whilst well beaten at Ffos Las when second since, he was miles ahead of the ray and the winner has won again since (probably twice since by the time this is run).  Gets one of the finds of the season in Rex Dingle up top.
