NAP OF THE DAY: Destinys Rock, (1610 Wolverhampton), 1pt win, 7/2 generally available
Apprentice Megan Nicolls again claims a useful 5lbs off this fully having ridden her the last three times. She travels smoothly but Megan has met trouble all three times. They still won the first time off 56, but had to settle for unlucky placed efforts off 63 both subsequent runs. On the same mark again and surely can make amends with a clearer run.
Claire Underwood, (1615 Newcastle), 2/1: has done very well in handicaps around 10f, looking strongest at the end of her races. Was probably unlucky not to do better than a close third at Chelmsford and this stiffer long straight and extra two furlongs look set to be ideal. Almost certainly has more improvement to come.
Macs Blessing, (1640 Wolverhampton), 2/1: very lightly raced and showed first real form when staying on well for a share of second in a close finish here recently. That was also the first time he was ridden by the trainer’s brother-in-law Liam Keniry. He keeps the ride here and the extra furlong should suit on the evidence of that last effort.
Blame Culture, (1815 Newcastle), 9/4: this looks a match between recent course winner Glory Of Paris and recent course third Blame Culture. On a line through the consistent Rey Loopy, these weights should see Blame Culture home by a length and a half. Horses aren’t that scientific, but it’s not a bad price that the result at least will match the maths.
