The golfing week starts in Australia, with the European Tour heading to Victoria for the ISPS Handa Vic Open.
This is a special event with some of the best female players competing with their male counterparts. This tends to suggest the field is a little thinner than usual, and we’ll go right to the head of affairs and tip the favourite Jason Scrivener.
The Australian stands 14th in the Race to Dubai, have finished tied 7th in Dubai Desert Classic. He also finished tied 6th in the Australian PGA Championship at the end of last year, and this form is probably best in the field.
To balance backing the favourite, we’re going a little further down the list for our each way selection.
Austin Connelly has a disappointing season in 2018, but this is his start for the new year. He scored his potential in finishing 14th in the Open Championship in 2017, and that at the type of links course he will experience this week. He’s a long shot, but at 125/1 we would be rewarded!
The second tournament takes place in California, namely the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
The favourite for the event is Dustin Johnson after his impressive win in Saudi Arabia last week. However, with stormy weather around, we’re not prepared to take the short 5/1 DJ is quoted at in case he gets unlucky with the conditions.
Instead we’re going to take a couple of solid each way picks. Branden Grace plays well in windy conditions, has a low ball flight, and is in form having finished second in last week’s Phoenix Open.
Our second selection is Brandt Snedeker. He is known for his superb putting on these poa annua greens and has a very impressive record at this event, winning twice and finishing fourth since 2013.
Scrivener to win, 1 pt, at 14/1, SkyBet
Connelly 0.5 pts each way at 125/1, 1/5 the odds for the first six places, Unibet
Pebble Beach Pro-Am:
