Thursday Yankee: We Believe in Cher…

Pesky equine flu has denied us a well crafted UK Yankee.  We wish the horses well, and head over to Thurles for the day’s action…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:  Cher Why Not, (1600 Thurles), 1pt win,7/2  generally available:

With respect to the well weighted Sweet Destination, this is a fairly exposed field and the bang in form 7yo Cher Why Not brings excellent efforts from Fairyhouse and Punchestown to the table.  He has crept up a few pounds for those efforts but this is an easier race and he really should win well.

Arvico Bleu, (1315 Thurles), 5/4: has form with many of the best Irish novices.  Managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory last time, but will surely win at this easier track under the excellent Rachel Blackmore.  Has Ex Patriot to beat, a good horse but one yet to convince he has the scope for chasing.

Getaway John. (1450 Thurles), 10/3:  a tasty looking novice hurdle but we have no doubts about plumping for Getaway John.  A good bumper horse, he has slowly developed over hurdles and was at his best last time. Gets the peerless Davy Russell in the saddle, and that will do for us.

Amen Corner, (1635  Thurles), 6/4:  the usual Willie Mullins domination of Irish bumpers has been noticeably missing this season.  But this is his time of year and he releases a potential star in the shape of Amen Corner.  He is a full brother to the talented Augusta Kate and is owned by the same syndicate of famous sportsmen headed by Lee Westwood.
