A nice winning nap yesterday in our hastily rescheduled Thurles picks, with Cher Why Not (advised 7/2) battling home for a narrow win. Equine flu will keep us on the Emerald Isle for the near future…

NAP OF THE DAY: Important Message, (2000 Dundalk), 1pt win, 16/1 generally available
A bit of a hunch here with a horse who has shown no form since returning from long term injury. Was rated 96 for Godolphin in his previous life, terrible since but the only half decent run came last time he was on this synthetic surface and that was off 83. Has plummeted to a mark of 63 since on turf displays, allowing him into this race off top weight, by far the weakest contest he has ever seen.
Victorious Secret, (1730 Dundalk), 9/2: this mare has hit a winning streak but hard fought narrow wins means she has not been severely punished. Has an excellent middle draw and her fighting attitude is ideal in these apprentice races.
The Game Of Life, (1830 Dundalk), 7/4: was a late starter, debuting just before Christmas, but was impressive in victory there, and 7f in decent company next time was just too sharp. He did his best work there at the finish and the step back to a mile looks sure to suit. An opening mark of 81 looks fair and he should be too good for these.
Kerosin, (1930 Dundalk), 9/4: this race should be a two runner affair in ratings. The useful Rashaan is rated top in 94, but he was last seen refusing to race in a novice chase. He won on the flat on heavy ground off 89 last May but is not sure to run to his mark. Kerosin is clear second best, winning here in December off 88 and now rated 90. Not hugely progressive but clear second best and most likely to run to his mark.
