FA Cup: Spot on, Chelsea…

The last fifth round tie in this season’s FA Cup is a cracker, Chelsea taking on Manchester United.

The Blues start the game as favourites, and you can see why. They are playing at home, they are the holders, and they have had the best of recent Cup meetings between these two sides – in fact, Chelsea are looking to become the first team to eliminate Manchester United in five consecutive FA Cup meetings.

But Chelsea’s recent form does pose some difficult questions. They were thrashed 6-0 last time out in the league. It’s true that was against Manchester City, but how do you explain the 4-0 defeat at Bournemouth? Those games were both away from Stamford Bridge, but clearly confidence is fragile.

United have been more impressive of late. They were outclassed by PSG midweek, but prior to that they had beaten both Arsenal and Tottenham away from home.

We think this game could be free scoring, with both teams better known for their attacking play, and are tempted to go with a 2-2 draw. Instead, we’ll side with penalties, and predict the home team go through in that fashion.

Recommendations: Chelsea win on penalties, 1 pt, at 14/1, SkyBet
