The Champions League returns tonight with a sumptuous tie, Liverpool taking on Bayern Munich at Anfield.
The Reds qualified for the knockout phase thanks to their strong record at Anfield – they won all their home games and lost all those away! They will be keen to put the German visitors under pressure early, and have had a break to refresh the engines.
Bayern Munich are one of Europe’s elite – they have won the Champions League/European Cup five times. They lie second in the Bundesliga this season, but have been steadily closing the gap with Borussia Dortmund.
Liverpool do have some absentees, particularly defensive lynchpin Virgil van Dijk, and this could make them vulnerable to the counterattack. And in Kingsley Coman Bayern have one of the quickest wingers around. He’s 7/2 to score anytime, but we’ll take the 35/1 that he scores at least two, as he did in Bayern’s last away game.
Recommendations: Coman to score a brace, 1 pt, at 35/1, Paddy Power
