Friday Yankee: The Mota’s running…

It’s been a winner a day, frustratingly for Yankee bets, since last weekends heroics.  Let’s see if we can step it back up today…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:  Motajaasid, (1400 Lingfield), 1pt win, 3/1 generally available

Ran a superb race to go down by a narrow margin here last week.  His jockey then, Thore Hammer Hansen, gave him an ungodly ride, coming wide and finishing well but all too late.  Stable ace apprentice Finlay Marsh gets the leg up this time claiming 2lbs and all looks set for revenge. He turns out quickly enough to avoid a 2lb clip up for that run.

Awake At Midnight, (1450 Newbury), 2/1:  looked progressive in the Autumn before a defeat on soft ground and a failure over a longer trip at Kempton in a top class race.  Steps back to 2 miles, gets his ground, and champion Johnson to do the driving.

Suzi’s Connoisseur, (1505 Lingfield), 9/1:  obviously Monday’s winner Merhoob is an obvious favourite but a mark of 100 is stiff enough.  Nice Vedder is difficult and Watchable hard to win with.  The odds for Suzi though look way too big.  A runaway winner on only course and distance try in December, he has been in races he couldn’t win since but gets those conditions back here and could spring a surprise.

Orchardstown Cross, (1630 Newbury), 13/8:   was an easy winner for us last week and gets to run here off a fixed 7lb penalty which leaves him 4lbs well in.  May have more to come than even that suggests and can strike again under conditional jockey fund Rex Dingle and his valuable 5lb claim.
