Cheltenham is nearly on us and the annual guide can be accessed here. In the meantime…
The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: Fanforanade, (2025 Chelmsford), 1pt win, 5/1 generally available
Our Gosden mole (more a badger) tells us that this step up from 7f to 10f is expected to suit this lightly raced filly. The trainer has a good record everywhere, but seems to do particularly well here. She may be ridden with more restraint than at shorter trips, and that may allow her the chance to relax. Johnny G has very few horses rated this low, and she is probably capable of better.
Peak To Peak, (1410 Wincanton), 4/1: was off the track for a long time after looking a promising sort. Returned here last month and was a pulled up favourite after fading quickly from a promising position. Will need to make a big stride forward, but trainer Nicholls is a genius at finding just such improvement.
Storm Arising, (1545 Wincanton), 5/2: another Nicholls novice who can prosper from the red-hot stable form. Ran a cracker last time in a novice hurdle at Chepstow that might have a big bearing at Grade 1 level next week. Has to beat top flat horse Vis A Vis, from another stable in form, but who has yet to show he can translate to hurdles.
Trevelyn’s Corn, (1620 Wincanton), 1/1: won a point to point and was then a decent fourth on hurdles debut at Ascot. Looks head and shoulders above the others on that form and is another from local colossus Paul Nicholls.
