NAP OF THE DAY: Glinger Flame, (1540 Hexham), 1pt win, 9/4 generally available
Very lightly raced and makes his handicap debut here off a manageable mark of 117. Some interesting opponents but they have all had more chance to show the handicapper what they can do, whilst Glinger Flame’s narrow maiden defeats make his mark more guesswork. Hexham legend Brian Hughes will hopefully be in for a big day.
Murphy’s Law, (1440 Hexham), 4/1: Murphy’s Law probably states that the day we place our faith in regular Hexham winner Brian Hughes will be the day he blanks. Hopefully though he can start a winning surge here with this handicap debutant whose close 4th last time was his career best, and he arrives in handicaps with distinct upward momentum.
Graystown, (1510 Hexham), 2/1: gets a 5lb rise for his first chasing win which came despite a poor round of jumping at Ayr last time. Plenty of improvement potentially in the locker and the bonus of Brian Hughes up top.
Siri Ismael, (1640 Hexham), 2/1: one of the more experienced here with two point runs and a 4th and 3rd in bumpers. That form is probably a fraction behind fellow favourite Djebel Rome, but Ismael has Hughes to help him, who by now will be looking for his four-timer. Expect him to battle home.
