Wednesday Yankee: Feeling Smiley…

A winning nap yesterday (Glinger Flame 7/2), and two wins on the Yankee a welcome relief after a week to forget.  Let’s hope we’ve turned the corner..

NAP OF THE DAY:  Smiley Bagel, (1640 Lingfield), 1pt win, 9/4 generally available

Loves this track and won here last spring off 70. Has been slow to hit form this season, but was a good second here last time and that form looks strong.  Off 68 here he is going to be really hard to beat.

Marble Bar, (1525 Southwell), 13/8:  absolutely bolted up here a few weeks ago on his first experience of this surface.  Has been hiked up 12lbs and such a rise is usually the kiss of death, but this idiosyncratic surface is one where horses can defy double digit hikes and Marble Bar should be one who does.

Bond Angel, (1705 Southwell), 13/2:  has been a consistent regular here all season.  Likes to bowl along near the front and has gone well for minimum assistance in the saddle which augurs well for her inexperienced amateur rider whose 7lb claim might be crucial.

Poetic Force, (2000 Kempton), 7/2:  ran an excellent second here over a mile when just headed late on.  That was a very good race and he should enjoy the likely strong pace over this 7f.  We do like Corazon Espinado, but there looks to be too much early speed for him to be at his dominant best, in contrast it’ll be ideal for Poetic Force.
