NAP OF THE DAY: Esprit De Corps, (1400 Doncaster), 1pt win, 7/1 generally available
Fit as a flea having had an active winter in the synthetics. Unlike most all weather performers his back history suggests he may actually be better in turf. As such he can improve on his recent Newcastle second. Should like this track and has the excellent Atzeni on board.
Buridan, (1510 Doncaster), 6/1: looked a promising sprinter at times last season and could improve as he strengthens up as a 4yo. Trainer Hannon likes to get a few sharp enough for this meeting and the booking of Ryan Moore catches the eye. Can race prominently, which works well over sprint distances here.
Shareef Star, (1620 Doncaster), 7/2: Sir Michael Stoute is another who likes an early winner here. Lightly raced 3yos retained as 4yos are Sir Michael’s hallmark, often improving to much better than handicappers. Shareef Star could be just one such after just three runs as a 3yo. Impeccably bred he could be a massive improver this year.
Good Birthday, (1655 Doncaster), 4/1: was progressive in maidens as a 2yo and looks well in on 82 here. Trainer Andrew Balding has his yard in superb early season form and had a winner here yesterday in these colours steered by De Sousa. They can strike again here with everything in his favour.
