Aintree on our mind, but a few chances to boost the war-chest first…
The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY Court Royale, (1520 Ludlow), 1pt win, 3/1 generally available
has looked very capable of winning off this mark. We liked him at Taunton last time and he wa running a fair race til hampered late on. This is a drop in class and this track on this ground looks likely to be ideal. Should win here or we have grossly overestimated him.
Harbour Vision, (1540 Chelmsford), 2/1: has been in flying form of late particularly here. Was a very good winner here two runs ago for which a 5lb rise looks very workable. Was a good second at Kempton last time but seems to be at his best here and can register a 3rd course win in his last four starts at the track.
Gas Monkey, (1715 Chelmsford), 11/4: was in great form with three close runner up efforts before we lumped on him last time and jinxed him. He got terrible luck that time, but is probably worth excusing and giving him another chance to regain his form.
Duke Cosimo, (1945 Newcastle), 14/1: the head of the market here are two horses unfamiliar with this surface. Next best is Athollblair Boy and whilst he should go well, there is no reason Duke Cosimo shouldn’t go just as close at over twice the odds. One pound better off for a January short head defeat, the Duke remains in good form here in particular when it runs Standard to Slow as it does tonight (last 5 runs on similar going : 31212). Looks overpriced.
