The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: Billy Roberts, (1400 Pontefract), 1pt win, 11/4 generally available
Won this race two years ago and made an excellent return on the all weather recently. Is 6lbs lower than when he won this, and that prep run looks to have been timed with another crack at this race in mind.
Avithos, (1540 Exeter), 9/2: won here impressively last time when well backed even though she crashed through the last. Up 8lbs but that was well earned and with course sure to suit and at the base of the weights she has a great chance to follow up.
So Near So Farhh, (1600 Pontefract), 7/2: had a great season as a 3yo, including a win and runner up effort here. Was below par at the end of that busy season, but is refreshed here. De Sousa rides having previously ridden rival Akavit to victory here. Bailarico is on a roll but carries weight according.
Dukhan, (1630 Pontefract), 7/4: Recent form is represented by Dinny winner Central City, that was a wonderfully judged hold up ride and will be harder to pull off here. Dukhan has potential to be a lot better than his mark of 94 and trainer Hugo Palmer will have big plans, he starts by booking the excellent James Doyle.
