NAP OF THE DAY: Rise Hall, (1535 Nottingham), 1pt win, 7/1 generally available
A good looking race in which favourite Bowerman has a bit to prove off 94, after 18 months off, and a first start on turf. Rise Hall may be the value for Martyn Meade. Has had just two handicap runs in a lightly raced 3yo campaign. Showed a lot of promise and blinkers on and down in trip, expect him to get an aggressive prominent ride from the always excellent Oisin Murphy.
Where’s Jeff, (1610 Nottingham), 4/1: pretty much the only on here on an upward trajectory. Entitled to improve further from 3 to 4, and a good seasonal debut last year suggests he can be sharp enough first time out. The stable are in decent form and he can keep climbing the ranks with a win here.
Bo Samraan, (1640 Nottingham), 9/4: possibly the class act in this field and allotted top weight accordingly. That is still only a mark of 77, and he is a well bred son of Sea The Stars who ran very well at Newmarket on his handicap debut. Trainer Johnston usually has them as fit as fleas and he can lift this on the way to better things.
Nabeyll, (1715 Nottingham), 7/4: the second division of this handicap can replicate the first with a 77 rated top weight from a strong stable set to outclass the opposition. This will be Nabeyll’s handicap debut after three quick runs last Autumn, and the short break since should have freshened him up nicely. Atzeni does the steering, whilst trainer Varian is running at a 55% strike rate in the last few weeks.
