Friday Yankee: Happy days…

Another winning nap yesterday with Lucky Lover Boy (11/4) following Rise Hall’s 8/1 success on Wednesday.  Let’s see if we can land the hat-trick…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:  Happy Power, (1540 Newbury), 1pt win, 3/1 generally available

Raised 10lbs for an end of season soft ground romp at Doncaster.  Might be better than a handicapper and a revised level of 93 may still be well below his true ability.  Gets his favoured ground again, and trainer Andrew Balding is in fine early season form.  The booking of champ De Sousa suggests he will be fit enough first time out.

Theatre Legend, (1420 Ayr), 5/1:  converted on maiden promise when a smooth winner on handicap debut at Wetherby.  Slapped up 12lbs for that, which would normally be a stopper, but in this case it’s a suitable adjustment for a generous initial rating.  Odds are propped up by some unconvincing southern raiders.

Kick On Kick On, (1435 Newbury), 11/4:  Local trainer Clive Cox does well at this track and has booked the excellent William Buick for this fella’s seasonal debut.  He won on debut last year and this might be the best time to back him.  Soft ground holds no fears and he should have the beating of these.

Gold Present, (1525 Ayr), 5/1:  Last won in Dec 2017 since which time his form is PP30.  The three failures there came trying to eek his stamina out over longer trips, the third coming in a Grade 3 chase behind Politilogue.  Very interesting here on his favoured ground, stepped back in trip, and likely to make the running.  Skipped Cheltenham and particularly the Topham at Aintree to target this race.
