Sunday Yankee: The Sweeney can cop prize

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:  The Sweeney, (1425 Wincanton), 1pt win, 4/1 generally available

The Sweeney is relatively lightly raced, his career highlight came when taking this race last year.  He has been consistent off a higher mark since without winning, but a recent wind operation saw signs of improvement when runner up at Market Rasen, and the return here may be enough to see him home again.

Opening Batsman, (1500 Wincanton), 3/1:  an ageing 13yo veteran who seems to find one or two too good each time.  But his front running style suits this track and whilst it’s likely something will pick him off, it’s not a bad price that this time he can hold on.

Southfield Torr, (1530 Wincanton), 5/2:  early promise has dissipated with two poor handicap runs.  But this is a step down in class and with the military riders he gets a prime jockey in Jody Sole.  Bound to have been well prepped by local legend Nicholls, and should win this.

It’s All A Lark, (1620 Stratford), 9/4:  climbing up the weights, but possibly still improving and loves this quick ground.  Front running style well suited to this track, and can win again.
