Sometimes you can look like a fool when trying to predict sports – like loading up your Fantasy Football defence with Brighton players ahead of their double week and seeing them concede five at home!
But other times you can read the occasion just right, which can be very satisfying.
Such an event occurred last night, to the benefit of subscribers to Lap of the Odds, as we suggested betting on a red card happening in the Premier League game between Watford and Arsenal, at a tasty price of just under 5/1.
We based this theory on the likely feisty nature of the match after Watford skipper Troy Deeney suggested Arsenal’s defenders were easy to bully in the equivalent game last year. And it was after only 11 minutes that Deeney was sent off by referee Craig Pawson for trying to assert himself again, with a forearm into the face of an Arsenal player.
A nice, early payout!
