Saturday Yankee: School rules…

It was a Good Friday as Oh This Is Us (5/1) kept up the good work for April naps.

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:  Austrian School, (1535 Musselburgh), 1pt win, 7/2 generally available

Started last season in winning form but suffered the frustrations of 9 subsequent runs, all placed but no wins.   His mark has climbed to a lofty 102, but his style of prominent racing left him as a target last year.  Now a 4yo,  having had the chance to strengthen, and at a front-runners paradise, first time out may be just the moment.  This could be a last handicap before trying for bigger targets.

Porth Swtan, (1350 Musselburgh), 7/2:  won here recently and is just 3lbs worse off with the second and third.  That should make things close, but the runner- up then is unlikely to get the same solo lead, whilst Porth Swtan has a perfect draw in stall one to drop into the hole behind the pace and pounce late for a repeat win.

Royal Brave, (1500 Musselburgh), 12/1: a veteran who loves this course with form figures of 253311312513314.  Does have a lifetime high mark, but his reappearance fourth here in a good race suggested there is still mileage in this mark given his conditions.  Has those here, has a fair draw and looks better than the odds suggest.

Suwaan, (1715 Musselburgh), 4/1:  won on seasonal debut in 2017, and a nose defeat on debut last season was as close to a win as he got all year.  Course form of 1323 includes a win off a high 60s mark like today’s, and three narrow defeats off mid 70s ratings.  All points to a big effort here and he has arguably been given a much handier draw than likely hot favourite Super Julius who is out wide in stall 1.
