NAP OF THE DAY: Valley Of Fire, (1415 Doncaster), 1pt win, 10/3 generally available
Is making a slow comeback from a long layoff. In his heyday he was rated 89, but now just 70. That said, his last run here a few weeks ago was a good staying on 7th of 19 over these conditions. That alone would be interesting in this lower grade, but if he can make a further step forward then he’d have a massive chance.
Canford Bay, (1555 Doncaster), 4/1: fit from the all weather he produced his best reverting to turf last week when winning well at Ripon. He goes unpenalised making him 6lbs well in. That was a good win as he defied a draw bias that day, and he can hold off Nibras Again who chased him home then and reopposes on the same terms.
Leodis Dream, (1605 Sandown), 11/4: won his reappearance at Thirsk recently. That was a hard earned win in a blanket finish but the benefit of that is a small 4lb rise. Is nicely drawn here and it looks significant that his Yorkshire connections should make the long journey south.
Dagueneau, (1625 Doncaster), 14/1: looked good mid-season last year when looking like he could make up into a progressive stayer. Lost his way in the Autumn but could be interesting now as a more mature 4yo. His return over an inadequate 12f was just ok, but hopefully this longer trip and with a run under the belt, he can make a big step forward and a huge price.
