Premier League: Son to start quickly…

Today’s Premier League fixture list starts with Tottenham as they entertain West Ham at their new home.

Spurs have a very good record at their new digs, winning all four matches played there without conceding a goal. They should, therefore, have the edge over a West Ham team that look like they have gone on holiday early – they have taken one point from their last eight away fixtures, losing their last four.

Spurs do have injury worries and could have half an eye on the Champions League semifinal midweek, but should still win today.

One of the players who has stepped up while key striker Harry Kane has been injured is Heung-min Son. The Korean is missing the Champions League semifinal first leg through suspension, so is likely to play today, and has netted four goals in his last six games. We’ll take him to score first.

The late televised game sees Brighton entertain Newcastle on the south coast.

The home team are still in a relegation scrap with Cardiff for the last spot to go down, so three points here would be warmly welcomed. Newcastle, on the other hand, are safe after an impressive run of form, including an excellent win over Southampton last time out.

All logic suggests Newcastle. Brighton are on a seven match winless run and are struggling to score goals, while Newcastle have built up a strong defensive record and in Salomon Rondon and Ayoze Perez have strikers in form.

But we think Brighton need these points more, and home field advantage can count. With their strikers struggling, we’re going to take a punt on big central defender, and blog favourite, Shane Duffy scoring during the match.

Tottenham/West Ham: Son to score first, 1 pt, at 3/1, Unibet

Brighton/Newcastle: Duffy to score, 1 pt, at 8/1, Unibet
