The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: Strawberry Jack, (1840 Thirsk), 1pt win, 5/1 generally available
Converyed his good recent all weather form to turf when running the wel handicapped Dragon Sun to a neck at Beverley last week, pulling 5l clear of the rest. Runs off the same mark here which must put him a nice few pounds well in, and gets a nice draw. Should run very well.
Katheefa, (1615), 7/2: A mass of money for Big Brace Bob here, and his one run here was excellent. But he hasn’t seen the track since October, and whilst money talks, form talks even better. Katheef has the form with a recent second and first here. Last time in turf can be ignored and his price is holding up nicely in the context of other gambles in the race.
Skyva, (1730 Newcastle), 10/3: form figures of 464 here round the turn of the year over 6f may not look much but he ran pretty well each time. A poor run back on turf last time has seen the handicapper relent with a kindly drop to 54. Ben Robinson continues to claim an added 3lbs, and he looks well set dropping down in class.
Awsaaf, (1800 Windsor), 4/1: has beaten just 4 horses in 4 runs for the Wigham yard, but this is a stable where you can generally ignore the form book and just watch the market. The money has poured in during the early markets, which is always a good sign. Well backed, well drawn and seemingly read to go.
