There are two main tournaments in the golfing world this week, the first being the Volvo China Open from the Genzon Golf Club in Shenzhen.
Defending champion is Alexander Bjork and the Swede is back to defend his title, but that was at a different course. The player that we are drawn to is the favourite Haotong Li, the champion in 2016.
Li has been playing in the rarefied air of the PGA Tour, and hasn’t been that close to winning. But his last two events on the European Tour were a tied second in Saudi Arabia and a tied 12 in Dubai. He is world ranked 39, the highest in the field, and we think he will enjoy coming back to his own country and competing against a weaker field.
The second event is the Wells Fargo Championship at the Quail Hollow Club in North Carolina.
Jason Day returns to defend his title after playing well in the Masters last month. However, we have continued doubts about his fitness and we’ll leave alone.
Strong favourite is Rory McIlroy, and he does have a fantastic record here. We’re just reluctant to take 6/1 after his disappointment at Augusta.
We’re going to side with Webb Simpson. The American has been playing very well this season, culminating in a fifth position at the Masters. He has made the cut in 10 of the 11 tournaments played this year and comes fresh off a 65 last weekend.
Our second selection is another consistent performer this season, Jason Kokrak. He finished tied second at the Valspar, tied seventh at the Valero Texas Open and tied ninth at the Honda Classic this year. We think he offers solid each way value at 40/1.

Jason Kokrak 0.5 pts each way at 40/1, 1/5 the odds for the first eight places, Paddy Power
Li and Simpson 0.5 pts each way double
