Europa League: Gunners to start brightly…

The Europa League has reached its semifinal stage, and now we know for sure that these teams are serious about the competition, with qualification for the Champions League the reward, we can look at betting on it.

First up is a clash between Arsenal and Valencia at the Emirates. The form of the Gunners in the league is a cause for concern – they have lost their last three – but they were very impressive in disposing of Napoli in the last round of this competition.

It looks like they have concentrating on the Europa League – they have yet to concede at home – and in Unai Emery they have a manager that knows what it takes to win it.

Valencia are also struggling in their domestic league and are suffering from a few injuries. We think they will be happy to get an away goal tonight, and look for Arsenal to win this clash 2-1.

The second game also includes an English team, Chelsea, who travel to Germany to take on Eintracht Frankfurt.

This game pits the competition’s top two scoring teams against each other, suggesting a goalless draw is unlikely.

Chelsea have been disappointing away from home in the Premier League this season but have progressed without any real troubles in this competition. However, this could prove a tricky test as Eintracht have scored four past Lazio, Marseille and Shakhtar.

We think the home team will prove too strong in this leg, but expect Chelsea to score given Eden Hazard is likely to play. We’ll go for another 2-1 home win.

Recommendations:

Arsenal/Valencia: Arsenal to win 2-1, 1 pt, at 8/1, SkyBet

Eintracht Frankfurt/Chelsea: Eintracht to win 2-1, 1 pt, at 10/1, bet365
