The Daily Yankee:
NAP OF THE DAY: Technician, (1535 Chester), 1pt win 7/2:
was very unlucky at Sandown having travelled well but somehow finding a lot of trouble when pinned in by a savvy Dettori ride. That has earned Dettori the leg up today, and he can pay back connections by steering this rapid improver to a deserved win.
Manuela De Vega, (1425 Chester), 3/1: won both starts a a 2yo including the Pontefract Tankard. Should be a real stayer and no surprise to see her wait to reappear in one of the first trials at or close to Oaks distance. Won’t mind it if it rains and the Beckett stable are flying.
Top Breeze, (1500 Chester), 4/1: showed blistering early speed to race across in front of the field, grab the rail, and make all at Newmarket. This course suits front runners and of course is notorious for the draw bias in favour of low numbers on this tight circuit. He has stall 1, and can use his early pace to set up a dominating effort.
Chapelli, (1635 Chester), 5/2: just touched off in a Listed race last time and was previously a good third to Top Breeze. We’re hopeful that’s good form as Top Breeze could win the 3pm race. Nicely drawn in stall 2 and with Franny Norton doing the steering, she should have enough to win
