Saturday Yankee: Presidential decree…

Rain turned Chester into a quagmire yesterday and may play a hand in today’s big cards.

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:  Presidential, (1600 Ascot), 2pts win, 10/1:

One of our favourites from last season, he put up a career best winning in soft ground at Newmarket last Autumn. Returned on faster ground at that track and ran a blinder in 3rd. The first two look very decent, the second having already romped home in a good race since. The fourth has also won since so the form is rock solid. This straight track, a big field, and soft ground look perfect.

Wait For Me, (1400 Haydock), 7/2:  in danger of being a bit of a professional loser and certainly threw away a seemingly certain win at Sandown last time when we tipped him.  We can give him one more chance as this sharp track should suit and the presence of long absent veteran star Whisper leaves many of these struggling from out of the weights.

John Constable, (1510 Haydock), 6/1:  Won this for us two years ago by 14l off a mark of 134, and was a fair 7th last year off a whopping 156. His stable live this race, winning four of the last six runnings and seem to have had it in mind again this season. A series of awful efforts have seen his rating plummet back down to just 132. He may have lost it, but a four month break and a wind operation look like great strategy and it will be no surprise if he romps in again.

Bella Ragazza, (1525 Ascot), 7/2: didn’t run as a 2yo but was rapidly progressive in her 3yo season, winning 3 including 2 from 3 in handicaps.  May be better than her mark and is bred to enjoy the soft ground.
