The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: De Little Engine, (1645 Brighton), 1pt win, 10/3:
Probably fair scepticism from the bookies here in offering a decent price for a horse who won well here last time and is just 3lbs higher. The market reflects that was just a second turf run in 27 starts, so may have come as a surprise to connections, but there looked no fluke and we’re prepared to risk that they have just been campaigning him wrongly for 3 years !!
Majestic Mac, (1535 Brighton), 4/1: returned a few weeks ago and ran a fair 4th in a decent little race at Epsom. Closely matched with Gin Palace on that run, and whilst that one may be a lively outsider, Mac looks to have the greater potential and comes from a yard renowned for finding improvement from run to run.
Gendarme, (1610 Brighton), 5/2: has been in good form at Bath of late, a track that correlates well with this venue. Wasn’t able to follow up a win when second last week but that was still a good effort and he escapes any weight rise by turning out quickly.
Master Grey, (1655 Nottingham), 15/8: a consistent trier who was finally stepped up to this 2m trip at Chepstow last week and stormed in by 6l. A 5lb penalty is unlikely to stop him, the bigger threat is the stronger opposition, but he surely has enough in hand to strike again whilst the iron is hot under the ever excellent Oisin Murphy.
