Sunday Yankee: Black Sunday…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:  Scorpion Black, (1605 Listowel), 1pt win, 9/2:

He is starting to look a risk being a 12 raced maiden, and despite two recent runner up efforts is vulnerable to less exposed types. But gets one of the best 7lb claimers in the business here and a very beneficial draw compared to his main opponents. Looks like now or never.

Meqdam, (1445 Nottingham), 5/2:  favourite Dal Horrisgle is saddled with a 7lb penalty for a win which makes life difficult.  Bin Suroor’s Meqdam ran a race of promise when looking very inexperienced on debut.  He will need to mature from that bit the benefit of a run is often huge and it will be disappointing if he isn’t much more competitive here.

Fridjtof Nansen, (1640 Listowel), 7/1: has frequently hinted at ability of bigger marks than this.  Finally showed more last time when a fast finishing 3rd at the Curragh off this career low mark of 73. Lucky not to be put up for that, he can reverse form with the second Arcanears who is poorly drawn here. Fridjtof has the perfect inside draw and a stable running at a 33% strike rate.

Fairy Stories, (1705 Nottingham), 6/4:  made her handicap debut on seasonal reappearance and ran 3rd of 20 at Thirsk winning her side of the race.  Unchanged on a lowly mark of 56, she should convert that form into a win today.
