NAP OF THE DAY: Dapper Power, (1930 Tipperary), 1pt win 2/1:
A case of striking whilst hot. Made a good return at Navan this season on only his third career run. Was beaten by the draw at Naas next time, before being runner up at Down Royal last week. Runs off the same mark and doesn’t have much to beat here. Should record the win.
Tamreer, (1850 Newcastle), 9/4: ran nicely in a novice event here on debut for her new stable. Didn’t shine in her first two handicaps but was much better last time when second in a good race at York. She was a long way ahead of the rest and the winner has won again since. She should be able to go one better here.
Eight And Bob, (2000 Tipperary), 2/1: didn’t finish his hurdles season in the best of form but is rated in the mid 120s. That doesn’t always translate to the flat, but a mark here some 70lbs lower would suggest at least a stone in hand on average translation. That should be enough for Willie Mullins’ runner to prevail.
Lord Of The Glen, (2020 Newcastle), 3/1: was rate as high as 80 after 3 wins here last year. That rating has sunk with his form, but he could benefit from his all weather rating staying linked to his turf despite his 3 career wins being on this surface. Four moderate runs at unsuitably sharp Musselburgh turf has seen his rating drop another 10lbs to a low of 54. The return to this surface looks like the conclusion of a plan.
