NAP OF THE DAY: Boundary Lane, (1610 Haydock), 1pt win, 7/2:
We were on this sprinting filly last time at Redcar but a bad stumble at the start was disastrous although she got back to a close fourth. By mud-loving Mayson, she might improve for the going and provided she gets away ok this time then she can make amends.
Avenue Of Stars, (1630 Hamilton), 9/2: has two turf wins on a soft surface and was a back to form second with a bit of cut here last week. That was behind a progressive winner and there hopefully won’t be any such opponent today. De Sousa, chasing the jockeys title, gets a first time leg up and can make the difference.
Johnny Cavagin, (1700 Hamilton), 7/1: Had a poor season last year but that left him very well handicapped. A win at Pontefract was followed by two fine Beverley efforts, the latest of which was exceptional having had to drop right out from the widest draw. He’s well placed here, has form on soft, and on form from two seasons ago still has 7lbs or more in hand off this mark.
Monaco Rose, (2030 Leopardstown), 4/1: romped home at Down Royal last time and despite a penalty runs off just a pound higher here. That puts her 9lbs well in on her future mark. Probably best to take that with a pinch of salt, but when she won previously in England she followed up soon after, and as a mare in form she looks value to do the same here.
