The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: Bodacious Name, (1835 Pontefract), 1pt win, 8/1:
A cracking handicap with penalised wide margin winner Sassie looking too good to be true, progressive True Destiny looking dangerous despite an 8lb hike, and Michael’s Mount the story horse having gone a lap too early last time. All have chances but two time course winner Bodacious Name returns on the same mark as those wins, and although less eye catching, course form is always a massive plus here and he looks the big value.
Hafeet Alain, (1905 Pontefract), 7/1: has been very consistent off his mark this season. Finished ahead of Kinks on these terms last month but is twice the price. That makes no sense especially as Hafeet’s last run at Ripon was a good late finishing effort. Can outrun his odds.
Open Wide, (1915 Windsor), 12/1: has course form of 11222233 and loves to come from off a fast pace. That looks guaranteed here. Ice Age has to vulnerable at this trip, whilst Blue De Vega just doesn’t win enough. Open Eide has to find something on Epsom Dash form, but the return here, a rapid pace, and a bit more luck than last time can make 12/1 look very generous.
Sheepscar Lad, (2105 Pontefract), 10/1: favourite Lathom ran well in a race with golden form last time but is drawn slightly wide on a very different track. Sheepscar Lad alphas a nice middle draw, has won here twice, and has dropped back to a winning mark. His 7th here last time was better than it sounds, and he could just the ready to strike.
