The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: Lorelina, (1520 Haydock), 1pt win, 11/4:
Won her only previous start here on heavy ground last Autumn. Is only 2lbs higher here and the stable continues to be in flying early season form. She herself ran well at Epsom and the return to these conditions can be all the stimulus she’ll need.
Cliff, (1400 Yarmouth), 7/2: a veteran who won three times in 2017 ending on a mark in the high 60s. One win last year came in soft off a mark of 54. Seems to save his best now for the soft and back down to 52 he looks to have a good chance. A fair 5th of 15 in each of his previous two starts, the rain can see him go much better here.
Khaan, (1700 Yarmouth), 5/2: big rival Abushamah is a wily veteran but not the easiest to win with. Khaan is a youngster with just two handicap runs, a super third here, then a win at Southwell. Up a lot for that easy win, but still on a bargain bucket rating.
The Bull, (2100 Hamilton), 6/1: five runners here are quoted at under 10/1, of which four of them have contested over 40 handicaps each. That suggests they have little left to hide, but The Bull is in only his 3rd handicap today, ran really well to be third here last week and is the only one with a plausible case for progression.
